A journey of 600km

The Walk was a project by Jalal Binthaneya which was initiated on January 3rd 2007 and ended 23rd January 2007. Jalal’s Primary aim with the walk was to raise awareness for the Dubai Autism Center which treats children with autism of various nationalities. Jalal at the time struggled to get support and funding from various companies. Convincing companies that he would be able to finish a 600km journey was not easy especially as he had never done anything like his proposed idea before. Jalal BinThaneya won the support of JAFZA, DP World and ETIC in the end.

In the process of raising awareness for the Dubai Autism center,Jalal BinThaneya at the age of 20,become the ”first person to walk around the United Arab Emirates.” The Dubai Autism Center applauded and praised Jalal’s efforts for serving the center and the children. The Emirates Technical innovation center (ETIC) provided Jalal with all support he required during the journey which took him around the United Arab Emirates such as food, water and additional supplies as well as moral support. ETIC provided Jalal with a minibus in which he slept in during the journey. Jalal had little access to showers during the journey he showered 3 times. Bathrooms were also not abundant during the journey.

JAFZA and DP World and Dubai Maritime City (DMC) donated cash to the Dubai autism center after Jalal had completed his journey.
